Cadets who have been selected (including stand-bys) to attend the 2009 Leadership Academy are required to complete and return the following forms not later than 15 April 2009. Please use the links at left to download copies of these forms (Adobe Acrobat Files). Please contact AFA's Leadership Academy Coordinators- CWO Schuyler or CPO Blasko if you are unable or are having difficulty downloading these forms.

  • Leadership Academy Combined Medical Release and Cadet Data Form (Encl 2). Please ensure the medical and dental accident insurance data on this form is complete.  “GEICO” or “BLUE CROSS” is not enough!  The company name plus policy/ID number or a telephone confirmation number is required! The address would also help.  If an answer is “no” or “N/A,” state so.

  • Leadership Academy Health Screening Form (Encl 3). Note: This form must be completed not earlier than 60 days prior to your scheduled Leadership Academy session. Due to the physical demands of the Academy, cadets who have a history of asthma or a heart condition will not be permitted to attend. Waivers are not considered for either of these conditions.

  • Cadet/Parent Agreement for Attendance at Leadership Academy (Encl 4).

In addition to the above, Academy selectees are required to obtain various uniform and other articles as indicated in the Required and Recommended Equipment and Personal Items listing (Encl 6). The mandatory uniforms items (Part 1), that are not already held by the cadet, can be issued by a Naval Science Instructor. The items contained in Part 2 are the cadets responsibility. Each cadet must have in their possession enclosure (6), with the required SNSI/NSI initials, signature and date of inventory, upon arrival at the Academy.

The cost for Leadership Academy is $170.00.  AFA cadets should make their checks payable  to Admiral Farragut Academy.  Cadets from other units should follow the payment instructions provided by their SNSI/NSI.  The academy fee along with the above listed enclosures are due to the unit SNSI/NSI by the deadline date-15 April 2009. Due to advance purchase requirements, reimbursements will not be made for cadets who are dropped/drop on request (DOR) or who fail to report/report on-time for their designated Academy session.

Leadership Academy in-processing will begin promptly at 0900 (Sunday) and end at 1030.  Stand-by quotas will begin processing at 1030 on a first-come, first-served, one per school at-a-time basis.  Late arrivals will be processed along with stand-by quotas.

Admiral Farragut Academy session assignments:

Session-1 (7-13 June)                 Session-2 (14-20 June)

Uniform for check-in is Unit PT gear with pants pulled up and shirt tucked-in. Medications, if any, should be in labeled plastic bags with the cadets name clearly written on the outside. Please leave all Jewelry at home. Cadets do not need to bring money other than $10.00 for male haircuts (if required prior to check-in and at the discretion of the Drill Instructor). Junk food and tobacco products such as smoking/chewing/dipping will not be permitted at Leadership Academy. Cadets selected for Leadership Academy are strongly encouraged to memorize both the NJROTC Chain-of-Command and the Orders to the Sentry.

Leadership Academy graduation will be held at 0900, Saturday 13 and 20 June for Sessions 1 and 2 respectively. Graduation is normally held on the Football Field (Chapel in the event of inclement weather). Parents, guardians, and/or other relatives are welcome to attend. The cadets are normally allowed to leave shortly after graduation. Please refer to the Directions to Admiral Farragut Academy's Admissions Office for directions, maps, and lodging recommendations. The weather is usually very hot and humid during this time of the year. Please plan to dress accordingly.
